Now I Can Paint Again!

After a long and exhausting move out of the Towne Storage building in Portland, and a very disappointing search for a new studio space in Portland, I've finally set up my new painting studio space!

As all of us Portlanders know, the real estate market is beyond nuts right now, and I found myself smack in the middle of it this past winter. Not only was my studio building sold, but my wife and I decided to sell our home. Wow, "exhaustion", "stress" and "sore" are all words with new meanings to me now. And if that wasn't enough, we decided to rent until we decide where to buy next. The rental market is just as crazy and overpriced.

Three and a half months later, I am finally settled in and it feels so liberating to pick up my paint brush again! I'm slowly building up my inventory and will be getting new work out late this spring and early summer. Stay tuned for more news on that front.

As for my studio, it's a great temporary solution. I really miss seeing and collaborating with all my

fellow artist pals daily, and it's odd working out of my home again which I haven't done for decades. But I am surrounded by wildlife, nature and spectacular views. Long term plan is to find a couple of acres outside the Portland area and renovate a barn or outbuilding to my next studio (please let me know if you know of any good deals or are looking to sell), so this feels like a good transition.

In the meantime, it's great to have my creative juices flowing again and I am excited to be creating again!
